Bothwell Engineering was founded in 2011 with the intention of doing things differently. Our three owners worked as contractors for over a decade before starting Bothwell, reporting to corporations whose ideas on how a business should be run differed from their own.
Bothwell was an opportunity for our founders to start a company that prioritizes paying personnel a good wage based on prevailing market conditions while billing clients at a rate that is commensurate with the expertise of the individual being hired. Minimizing overhead helps us to support these ideas.
We work in the biotech, pharmaceutical, cell, and gene therapy space, supporting both clinical and commercial programs. At Bothwell, we have had amazing success growing the company through personal connections and understand that those connections within the company should be strong and continually nurtured. For this reason, Bothwell operates primarily on a referral basis, fostering a tight internal team. Flexibility is also key, and as the circumstances of our personnel and clients change, Bothwell will adapt and align to support the needed changes.

Mark is a chemical engineer with 25 years of experience in pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and gene therapy. He specializes in project management, with a focus on facility and operational readiness, bringing new builds and renovations from concept through to successful GMP manufacturing.
Mark received his MBA from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, and completed his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering at the University of Paisley in Scotland. He currently resides in Acton, Massachusetts, working with clients in the Boston area.
Mark is also an avid triathlete and a certified USA triathlon coach. He is co-founder and head coach of a youth triathlon team out of Westford, MA.
With over 20 years of biotechnology engineering experience, Jason is a principal process engineer who has both managed and executed projects across the Northeastern US.
Jason has provided both management and principal engineering services to clients undergoing multi-million dollar new-build startup projects, facility renovations, and manufacturing optimization projects to existing sites.
Jason has led the commissioning and startup of large-scale upstream, downstream, and clean utilities equipment from installation to successful cGMP production runs. Jason's background includes work in cell culture, purification, product support, clean utilitites, and CIP/SIP.
Jason, born and raised on Prince Edward Island, has a Bachelor's in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick, Canada. He currently resides in Dedham, MA, working with clients in the Boston area.
Brian has 17 years of experience in the biotechnology and gene and cell therapy industry, specializing in validation and project management. Brian has worked internationally for biotech manufacturing clients in Ireland, Holland, and the US.
Experienced in cell culture, protein purification, production support, CIP/SIP, clean utilities, and fill-finish equipment, he has helped to manage capital projects, including green field projects and technical transfers.
